VacciCheck Dog Titer Test
Feel confident about your dog’s protection — and only vaccinate when it’s truly needed.
As a pet parent….
you want to make informed decisions. That includes deciding how and when to vaccinate. At Central Veterinary Services, we’re here to support that — with science-backed tools like the VacciCheck DAP Titer Test.
What Is the VacciCheck Titer Test?
The VacciCheck Titer Test measures your dog’s antibody levels for Distemper, Adenovirus (Hepatitis), and Parvovirus — three of the most important dog diseases.
Instead of automatically re-vaccinating, you can first check whether your dog is already protected. It’s a smart option for pet owners who value proactive, personalized care.
This Test Is a Smart Choice If You:
- Recently finished your puppy’s initial vaccine series (usually completed at ~16 weeks) and want to confirm they’ve built strong immunity.
- Are approaching your dog’s one-year booster and prefer to test first rather than automatically revaccinate.
- Had your dog vaccinated 2–3 years ago, and want to check if they’re still protected.
- Have a senior dog, and want to avoid unnecessary vaccines unless they truly need one.
- Are caring for a pet with chronic health conditions, and want to vaccinate only when it’s beneficial.
- Adopted or rescued a dog, and you’re unsure of their vaccine history.
🕒 The test takes about 40 minutes, with same-day results — so you can make informed, compassionate decisions without delay.
How It Works
The VacciCheck test is a semi-quantitative ELISA-based assay that evaluates immunity to:
- Canine Distemper Virus (CDV)
- Canine Adenovirus (CAV)
- Canine Parvovirus (CPV)
It’s validated against gold-standard lab tests — but performed right here in our clinic for faster, more convenient results.
What Do the Results Mean?
We’ll walk through the results with you in a way that’s easy to understand and helps you feel confident about what comes next:
- ✅ If your dog is protected: No booster needed. We’ll provide a certificate for your records, and your pet will be marked as up to date for one year in our system — just like they would be with a vaccine.
- ❌ If your dog isn’t protected: We’ll guide you through next steps and build a personalized plan based on your dog’s health and needs.
To move forward with any vaccination, your pet must have been examined by one of our veterinarians in the past 12 months. If not, we’ll help you book a wellness visit first.

What This Test Doesn’t Cover
The VacciCheck test only measures immunity for some of the core canine diseases. It does not cover:
- Rabies — While titer testing exists at external laboratories, it is not accepted under Canadian law in place of the rabies vaccine.
- Lyme Disease
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough or Parainfluenza)
We’ll help you decide what additional vaccines may be recommended based on your dog’s health, lifestyle, and travel or boarding needs.
