REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGISTS

Shai Wood

Shai is one of our Registered Veterinary Technologist’s and has been working with us since fall of 2014 after graduating from Red River College with a diploma in Animal Health Technology. Shai always knew she wanted to be within a mixed animal practice to work with all sizes of animals and to do something new and exciting each and every day. Shai has a special interest with bovine surgery, small animal phlebotomy, and emergency services.

Shai loves to continue to challenge herself with new things so she took on the role of our Director of Medical Services in 2017. She is often found within her office running numbers, coordinating community medical events, and ensuring the day to day activities run smoothly!

When not at work you can find Shai fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, canoeing, hiking or doing any outdoor activities with her herd of dogs at home. Shai has a mischievous Mastiff named Scarlett, a high energy Rottweiler named Kilo, and a drama queen Pomeranian named Cleo. Shai also has an antisocial Siamese named Arlo.

Shai was born and raised in Headingley MB and has since moved to St. Francois Xavier MB.

Shai is a Feline Friendly Ambassador.

 

Amanda Hebert

Amanda is one of our Registered Veterinary Technologist’s. She joined our practice in the spring of 2015 after graduating from Red River College with a diploma in Animal Health Technology. Amanda volunteered many Saturdays with us before going to school to become a RVT. She came back to Central Vet for her love of mixed animal practice, and the opportunity to work with a variety of animals.

Amanda enjoys ensuring our veterinary practice is always portrayed in a positive way. That is part of what makes her our Director of Public Contact. She also maintains our website along with our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Most times she will also be the face you see at our community events and since she’s such a great planner – she also plans and executes our Annual Open House event and staff holiday parties.

When not at work Amanda likes spending time outdoors tending to her yard/garden. She also enjoys spending time with her red Labrador Retriever named Dex, and her Golden Retriever named Dawson.

She was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, but now resides in Ste. Genevieve, MB. 

 

Callie Hilton

Callie has been working with us since summer of 2016, as a graduate of Red River College Animal Health Technology program. Callie came to join the team at Central Vet for her love of both large and small animals. When not at work you can find Callie at the barn riding her own horse Carmen, or competing competitively in show jumping. She another horse named Pandora, along with two cats named Phoebe and Ozzy, and a fish named Aree. Callie was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. 

 

Courtney Smith

Courtney has been working with us since fall of 2017, as a graduate of Red River College Animal Health Technology program. Courtney’s favourite aspect of being an RVT is meeting new people and their pets. She loves to expand her knowledge with continued education to help strengthen the human-animal bond. Courtney’s favourite procedure at the clinic are dental cleanings where there is a drastic before & after. In her spare time you can find Courtney kayaking, at the archery range and staying active!  Courtney has a few pets of her own, currently she has a horse named Fancy, a cat named Tootsie and a dog named Misty. Courtney is originally from Rorketon, MB. 

Sarah Levesque

Sarah is one of our Veterinary Technologists who has been working with us since her graduation from the Red River College Animal Health Technology program in May 2019. She in currently studying up a storm as she prepared to take her registration exam (VTNE). Since starting her career in the veterinary industry she has found she enjoys nutrition and small animal dentistry most. When not at work you can find her camping, going for walks, being outdoors and crocheting. Sarah has has two cats named Leesha and Callie and a dog named Sammy. Sarah was born & raised in Steinbach, MB.

 

Carly Dreger

Carly has been working with us since July 2019, as a graduate of Red River College Animal Health Technology program (2017). Carly’s favourite aspects of being an RVT include monitoring anesthesia for patients who are undergoing a surgical procedure, phelbotomy and laboratory work. She also enjoys building relationships with pet owners and their pets. In her spare time you can find Carly spending as much time outdoors as she can. She enjoys gardening, horseback riding and getting her dog out for a bike ride. Carly has a cat named Belinda who runs her life, she also has a Pyrenees Mix named Pearl, a flock of chickens and a Percheron X named Lucky-Lou. Carly was born and raised in South St. Vital, but recently moved away from the city and onto some land in Woodlands, MB.

Nikki Beaton

Nikki has been working with us since August 2019, as a graduate of Red River College Animal Health Technology program (2018). Prior to adding Nikki to our team, she graciously volunteered her time at our clinic. Nikki’s favourite aspects of being an RVT include administering and monitoring anesthesia and phlebotomy. In her spare time you can find Nikki enjoying escape rooms, video games, horseback riding (trail) and fostering animals. Nikki has a dog named Lucy, 2 cats named Morty and Odin and a horse named Zariyah. Nikki was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.

Brandy Wieler

Brandy became a Registered Veterinary Technologist with us in May 2020, before that she was a hospital assistant at our clinic since December 2019. She graduated from the Registered Veterinary Technology program at Red River College in 2020. While at work Brandy enjoys being able to interact with such a great variety of patients; large, small and those in-between. She has a keen interest in phelbotomy (the art of retrieving a blood sample) and parasitology. When not at work Brandy spends her time on the farm, she especially loves spending time with the mischievous goats! She can also be found hiking, horseback riding, kayaking and playing the piano or ukulele. At home Brandy has a Tuxedo cat named Toby. His favourite pastimes are chattering at birds through the window, doing tricks for treats and attacking peoples feet as they pass by. Brandy was born and raised in Altona, MB.

Haley Dempsey

Haley has been working with us since June 2020, as a graduate of Red River College Animal Health Technology program (2016). Haley’s favourite aspects of being an RVT include senior patient care, phelbotomy and parasitology. In her spare time you can find Haley spending time with family and friends. Haley has two senior dogs, a Labrador Retriever Mix, named Bella and a Collie Mix, named Suri. Haley was born and raised in Winnipeg, but currently resides in Oakbank, MB.

Carla Favelle

Carla became a Registered Veterinary Technologist with us in September 2020. She graduated from the Registered Veterinary Technology program at Red River College in 2009 and has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph. While at work Carla enjoys monitoring and administering anesthesia for our patients of all sizes, she has a keen interest in this area. When not at work Carla enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering with Manitoba Underdogs and spending time outdoors! At home Carla has a Pointer/Lab Mix named Hunter, a Pointer named Harper and two cats named Truffles and Ruby. Carla was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.


HOSPITAL ASSISTANTS

Courtney Hudson

Courtney works behind the scenes taking care of in-clinic patients, and assisting the doctors and technicians. She began as a hospital assistant at Central Veterinary Services in October of 2016. Courtney’s favourite aspect of her job is equine diagnostic imaging. When not at work Courtney spends most of her time horseback riding. Courtney lives with her shih tzu named Pepper and doodle named Buck. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.

Nicole Stoesz

Nicole became a hospital assistant with us in September 2017. Since starting she has learned a ton more about animals, and how they are cared for in our hospital. Her favourite aspect of working at CVS is seeing and helping  all the animals and their owners. When not at work Nicole spends her time riding and competing with her horse Sophie. At home Nicole also has a dog named Tazz, rabbit named Oreo, fish named Olaf and bearded dragon named Pumpkin! Nicole was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. 

Nadine Carreiro

Nadine became a hospital assistant with us in May 2018. Since starting she has learned a ton more about animals, and how they are cared for in our hospital. She began the Veterinary Technologist program at Red River College in Fall 2019. While at work Nadine enjoys being around large and small animals and contributing to their well being. When not at work Nadine spends her time at the park with her dog and studying for school. At home Nadine has a Mastiff Mix named Mayo. Nadine was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.

Kayla Robertson

Kayla works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. She became a hospital assistant at Central Veterinary Services in September 2018. Her love for large animals began when she was very young, as she grew up on a cattle and horse ranch. This is what drew her to us, and now her favourite aspect of the job is large animal medicine! She is furthering her education by taking the Equinology Body Worker Level 1 course, and is currently completing her externship. In her spare time she enjoys completing ranch work, attending rodeos, fishing and of course horseback riding/training. At home Kayla has two dogs named Peter and Hooch, two horses named Domino and Remi, and 4 cats named Snap, Charlie, Sherman and Earl Grey. Kayla grew up in Ste. Rose du Lac and now resides near Brunkild, MB.

Breanne Bordush

Breanne works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. She joined our team in September 2018. Prior to starting with us Breanne completed her High School Diploma. Her favourite aspect of being a hospital assistant is interacting with so many different people and animals. It puts a smile on her face seeing happy owners and their pets walk out our doors after having a visit with us! When she’s away from the clinic she enjoys working with her horse (training for barrel racing) in the Summer, and competing in body building shows in the Winter. She’s kept company by a husky/malmute puppy named Meekah, a persian mix cat named Cassanova and a quarter horse named Comanche. Breanne was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.

Allison Shaw

Allison works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. She became a hospital assistant at Central Veterinary Services in June 2019. Her favourite aspect of being a hospital assistant is interacting with the animals and learning as much as she possibly can. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and show jumping. At home Allison has 4 horses, 2 cats and 3 dogs. Allison was born and raised in La Salle, MB.

Tessa Wilderman

Tessa became a hospital assistant with us in September 2019. Since starting she has learned a ton more about animals, and how they are cared for in our hospital. While at work Tessa enjoys being able to interact with such a great variety of patients; large, small and those in-between. She has interest in continuing her education in equine and rider bio-mechanics for maintenance and rehabilitation. When not at work Tessa spends her time riding horses and coaching equestrian lessons. At home Tessa has 2 dogs, Joey an Italian Greyhound and Oliver a Yorkshire Terrier, a Welsh pony named Alinea and a Appaloosa horse named Frank. Tessa was born and raised in Howden, MB.

Brooke Preston

Brooke works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. She became a hospital assistant at Central Veterinary Services in November 2019. Her love for animals began when she was very young, as she grew up on a cattle farm with many cats and dogs. This is what drew her to us! Her favourite aspect of the job is knowing that we are working together to help and care for the animals that need us. In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, camping and spending time with her animal back on the farm. At home Brooke has 2 dogs named Dougie and Ted. Brooke grew up in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB and now resides in Winnipeg, MB.

Lauren Kabernick

Lauren works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. Growing up she worked on a farm where she helped to care for and feed all of the animals so she has wonderful husbandry skills. She became a hospital assistant at Central Veterinary Services in May 2020. Her favourite aspect of being a hospital assistant is getting to see different animals (big and small) each and every day. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sketching, going to the lake with her family, and in the Winter she plays hockey. At home Lauren has a Golden Retriever named Ginger and a cat named Luigi. Lauren was born and raised in Sandford, MB.

Tammy Baker

Tammy became a hospital assistant with us in September 2020. Before joining our team she completed a Herd Health Diploma at Lakeland College. While at work Tammy enjoys interacting with a variety of animals small to large. When not at work Tammy spends her time crafting and outdoors; camping, kayaking or cross-country skiing. At home Tammy has a Doodle named Howard. Tammy was born and raised in Neepawa, MB and now resides in Winnipeg, MB.

Jonathon Morton

Jonathon works behind the scenes in our treatment area with the rest of the veterinary team. He was a long term volunteer here at Central Veterinary Services since October 2019, and became an official hospital assistant in October 2020. His favourite aspect of the job is learning different treatment options for numerous ailments from the veterinarians. In his spare time he enjoys watching films and tv shows. He is also a great cook and loves to bake. At home Jonathon has a Shepherd/Husky X named Zoie. Jonathon was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.
